Carol Schmidt - Fourth Grade

My husband and I founded Morning Star in 1982. I have taught here for 21 years. We have three adult children, who all graduated from eighth grade at Morning Star. I have an Oregon State Elementary Teaching Certificate. I enjoy teaching children, especially fourth grade students, because they are eager to learn about so many things. I find that teaching at Morning Star is especially fulfilling because I have the opportunity, not only to teach academics, but also to encourage students to grow in their relationship with our Lord.

The fourth grade class gets to go on an overnight field trip and on several shorter trips throughout the year. All of these trips are fun and educational, mainly related to what we are studying in science or history. These are some of the trips planned for this year:

• Prineville---Crook County Courthouse and Bowman Museum,
• Benham Falls,
• Deschutes Historical Museum,
• Fort Rock Homestead Museum, and
• An overnight trip to Baker City --- John Day Fossil Beds, Sumpter Dredge, and Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.
