Bus Policies
The whole reason for establishing bus service is to provide safety for our students. Statistically a school bus in the United States is the safest
vehicle per passenger mile. With our Central Oregon road conditions this is a must.
Students Who Don't Normally Ride
The North bus route is running near maximum capacity. Therefore, students who are not regular riders may be left at school if there is insufficient
seating. They will then be checked into after school care while parents are being contacted for transportation. Students who don't normally ride the
bus must bring a note to the office on the morning they will be riding. A word to the child or a phone call will not do. They must have a bus pass from the
office to ride. There will be a $2 bus charge added to the bill. Next year we will be unable to accommodate any extra students riding or one way
discounts.
Change of Bus Stop
If your child is going to a different bus stop or if they are going to be met by someone different, they must bring a note to the office on the
morning they will be changing stops.
Unsupervised Bus Stops
If there is no one to meet your child at a rural bus stop, the driver will wait no more than 3 minutes after the scheduled time. At that time, the
student will remain on the bus. It will be the parents responsibility to provide transportation from the location at the end of the bus route. If
you think this has happened, contact the school as soon as possible. There is now a cell phone on the each bus. For safety sake, only call the
driver's cell phone for urgent calls. It is not a message phone for students.
Schedule
Parents should be at the bus stop 5 minutes before A.M. & P.M. schedule times. In bad weather the bus will sometimes be running a little late.
Please do not call the school office or the driver unless the bus is running more than 15 minutes behind, or if you are reporting a breakdown.
Clock Set
To accurately set your clocks, click on www.time.gov or call the school office. Please keep your
clocks and watch set correctly. Keep the Bus Schedule and Cell Phone Numbers in your car glove box.
